I Love A Good Bargain..| Charity Shops

Hello everyone!

First of all thanks for your amazing response to my last post! It's good to hear there are others out there with the same issue haha!

Can you guess what all the clothes you see  have in common?

Hint #1 It's not that they are all from designer labels
Hint #2 It is also not that they are all hideously creased...

The answer is that they were all bought from charity shops.

Collectively the clothes are worth around £150- yet I paid just under £20 for it all!

I love charity shops. As soon as I step through the door, I'm like a hunter, sniffing out the designer labels, bargains and beautiful pieces of clothing.

When someone asks where I got something, there is a very high likelihood that I will say a charity shop. There is then an uncomfortable silence then they will say something along the lines of:

"Oh really?....Lovely" Then quickly change topic. I think when people find out they assume it's because I have to because I can't afford something new and that's apparently seen to be embarassing- it's not, okay! The sad truth of is that I just love looking through other people's stuff...

I like knowing that someone else has already paid full price for something that I'm paying next to nothing for. In most charity shops (like the one I volunteer at) they only put out good quality items- I think there is a common misconception that secondhand means second quality. That's definitely not the case, in fact a lot of things handed in are brand-spanking-new, never worn.

You can find some amazing things at charity shops (or thrift shops I think they call them in America). Everything there is different, it's just a matter of looking hard enough to find something you love.  Places like vintage second hand shops are so beautiful, and the stuff you can find is so unique- once I found this beautiful vintage art deco jewelry box from the 1920s for just £10!

Plus when you buy something from a charity shop, you know your money is going to a good cause.  You are literally helping the world become a better place by shopping...!

Have you ever found any bargains at charity/thrift shops? I would love to know in the comments!

See you soon x

  1. I love shopping at charity shop because, like you said, the money is going to a good cause and you find some lovely things. I seem to get complimented on the things that I've bought from charity shops rather than 1st hand from a store. Maybe it is because the finds in charity shops are fairly unique. I can't believe you've found Hollister in a charity shop!
It's really nice to know that you volunteer at a charity shop, and helping the world become a kinder place.
